Registered number 1143733

Since 2005 Anna Mudeka has been supporting children in Zimbabwe through Education by donating books, computers, musical instruments and fees for orphans mainly Aids orphans and those less fortunate.

Through our tambai community projects we were able to raise money through local schools in Norfolk and private donations including friends doing the three pick challange in 2005 to raise money for 5 tonnes of educational equipment to be sent to Zimbabwe.

In 2006 we started supporting Children at Rugare primary school as the Headteacher felt there was a serious problem of children who were being looked after by grandparents attending school. This was mainly to do with the fact the parents had passed away through Aids, some of the children also were HIV positive.

We started another fundraise working with Children from Barnham Broom CofE VA Primary school who raised just over one thousand pounds through a project we did with them for a year teaching African music and dance.

As the demand of our work in Zimbabwe grows we are currently looking at working with Churches on the ground in Zimbabwe who have links in Norfolk to help establish a stonger link between Norfolk and Harare.

Since 2008 we have organised a one day music festival in Southburgh near Dereham Norfolk to raise money to pay fees for twenty orphans at Rugare Primary school and this year we have been supporting a further eight orphans at Warren Park D primary school.

Our work had become more desparate as the need to help more children comes our way on a daily basis. There is also the issue of helping with musical and sports equipment, books, pens and computers.

In 2012 we hope to start supporting the children we have seen through primary school in to their High school education. Any Sponsorship or donation for these children would be greatly received.

This is the reason we set up as a charity, over the past three years we raised £5000 required by the charity commission to set up as a charity. THE MUDEKA FOUNDATION registration number 1143733 was granted on the 9 September 2011

On the 24 March 2012 we are planning a trip to Zimbabwe to show the Trustees of THE MUDEKA FOUNDATION the work we have been doing to date and meet the children and schools we have been supporting. We hope to take exersice and text books, pens and educational material on this trip to give to the children.

We have display borads of the work we have achieved to date if you would like to see our work, arrangements can also be made for Anna Mudeka or Elisabeth Louis to come and talk about our charity work.

Africa Moto has been one of the most thrilling highlights in my life. At first my hands hurt and I couldn’t do the rhythms. Over time I picked up the rhythms. Now not only can I do them but I can feel them. Anna Mudeka is the most talented and generous person I have ever known and I would love to be like her. None of this would have happened without her. One of my favourite parts of drumming is when we stand up at the end of a performance to take a bow and you realise what you have done and how far you have come. Africa Moto has made me realise how much I love performing and that I would like to be a performer one day. Also that we work together really well and that team work is needed to achieve a goal. [By Libby]

Being in Africa Moto has been a great experience. I have learnt lots of different skills during the drumming and performances. This experience has really boosted my confidence. I have learnt to dance and sing in African and also to play a djembe confidently without the fear of embarrassing myself. I think I have learnt a lot more to do with the African culture from Anna and she has taught us a lot. One of the things that has made me enjoy this even more is the group of people I have been working with, classmates, Anna and Mrs. Louis. We have all had fun through these past two years and I will miss it lots. Whilst having fun drumming I have learnt more about the world and how different people live. I especially understand more about the African culture and how they live. One thing I am extremely proud of is how we raised all that money for the children In Africa. Because of the money we raised some of them can go to school and I will always remember that along with the fun I have had with Africa motto, Mrs. Louis and Anna. [By Karnika]
